Afterstep

Mote waits on a floating stone island. A lavender path leads toward an amber doorway beneath the Afterstep wordmark.

Leave a little possibility behind.

Every step is
a way forward.

A quiet puzzle game where the path you walk becomes the bridge you need.

01 / A different way across

The way forward
is the path behind you.

Disconnected islands. A little light. And a path that remembers where you’ve been.

Guide Mote across the stone, lift the trail you leave behind, and carry its shape into the space ahead.

01 Walk
A four-tile L-shaped trail on an intact stone island

Leave a trail.

Every turn becomes part of the shape you carry. Think about where you’ll need it.

02 Lift
The L-shaped trail lifts clear of the intact stone beneath it

Keep its shape.

Lift your footsteps, not the ground. Your trail moves without rotating or stretching.

03 Connect
The unchanged L-shaped bridge connects stone islands on the same level

Make the crossing.

Place it in the gap. One bridge at a time, each crossing makes you consider the next.

02 / Small rooms. Second thoughts.

A few footsteps.
A new possibility.

Watch a trail become a crossing. Pause on a moment to see how the same shape carries through.

Familiar footsteps.
Unfamiliar problems.

The rules build on one another. A blocked route or a stored trail can change the shape of your whole plan.

Rubble / Find another way

Rubble blocks Mote’s path. Walk around it to keep going.

Arrows / One way onward

Enter an arrow tile, then leave in the direction it points.

Caches / A trail for later

Store a finished trail, retrieve it, and make the crossing.

Mechanic demonstrations using game artwork and verified game rules.

03 / Beyond the next doorway

Same little light.
A different kind of night.

From sleeping rooftops to echoing caverns, each world gives an old idea a new consequence.

04 / Your travelling companion

Meet Mote.

Small steps.
A quietly stubborn spirit.

No great leap across the void. Just one careful footstep, then another. You find the shape of the way forward together.

A few things to know

Before
you wander.

Can I play Afterstep now?

Afterstep is in beta testing. See the mobile beta options for iPhone and Android. If you have a tester access code, Play Afterstep opens the browser version in a new tab.

Where will it be available?

The mobile beta has iPhone and Android options. The browser beta is available to testers with an access code while development continues.

What will it cost?

The planned release includes Sleeping Rooftops and the first two rooms of Glass Gardens for free. A one-time purchase unlocks the rest of the journey. No subscription. Final pricing will be announced closer to release.

Do I need quick reflexes?

No. Afterstep is about planning your route, not racing a clock. Tap to move, make a shape, and take the time you need to rethink it.

Does each world start from scratch?

New mechanics build on what you already know. The shape you walk still matters, but the ground, the obstacles and the possibilities around it change.

Where can I get help or send feedback?

Beta players can use Send feedback in the game’s pause menu. You can also email support@oddphase.com. Read the Afterstep privacy policy for the Android testing build.
