AFTERSTEP / PRIVACY

Privacy policy.

Your journey stays on your device. You choose whether to send us feedback.

Effective 16 October 2026 · Android testing build 0.5.2 (51)

This policy explains how Mert Atakan, operating as Oddphase in Sydney, Australia, handles information in the Android testing version of Afterstep (package studio.oddphase.afterstep). It also covers the feedback service and this policy page. Contact support@oddphase.com with privacy questions or requests.

1. Information kept on your device

Afterstep stores your progress, current room, achievements, settings, tutorial state, tester access and unfinished feedback or survey drafts locally. These records support gameplay and let you resume your journey. They are not automatically uploaded to Oddphase.

You can export a progress backup and choose where to save it. Importing a backup reads the file you select on your device. A backup is not sent to Oddphase. Anyone you share it with may be able to read its contents. This Android build disables Android automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup for the app's data.

This build has no Afterstep account, Google Play Games connection, advertising SDK, advertising identifier, automatic gameplay analytics or automatic crash-reporting SDK. It does not take payments or collect payment details. Google Play manages its own account, distribution and store services under Google's privacy policy.

2. Feedback and optional surveys

Information leaves the app for our feedback service only when you submit a report or a survey. You can play without sending either. Opening, answering or closing a survey does not submit it. Unsent drafts stay on your device until sent, discarded or removed by clearing app data.

A submitted report contains your bug report or suggestion and technical context: the game version and build, release channel and revision, language, current world and room, device/browser information, screen dimensions and pixel ratio. It also has a report identifier and submission time so we can record it and avoid duplicate submissions.

You may choose to add a reply email address, one screenshot, or the current board position. The board position contains the current puzzle state, not your complete saved journey. An attached image is resized and re-encoded before sending; the original filename and image metadata such as EXIF/GPS are removed. Its visible contents are still included, so please check the image before sending it. The app only reads the image you choose; it does not scan your photo library.

A submitted survey contains your selected answers, any optional comment and the same technical and room context. Surveys do not attach an email address, screenshot or board position.

We use this information to respond to requests, investigate bugs, understand feedback about room difficulty and controls, and improve Afterstep. Reports are private to Oddphase's administration tools; they are not posted for other players. Please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in a message or image.

When you connect to the service, hosting providers receive network information such as your IP address. Our gateway derives a keyed hash of the address to limit abusive requests. These security records are separate from your report. We do not use them to infer your location or build an advertising profile.

3. Who processes the information

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. Service providers process information needed to operate the app's support features:

Providers may process information outside your country. Their own operational records, including network and security logs, are governed by their service terms and privacy practices. You can read the policies of Vercel, OpenAI, Cloudflare and Microsoft. We may also disclose information when legally required or when necessary to address misuse or protect someone's rights or safety.

The app sends reports over HTTPS, and server-to-server delivery also uses HTTPS. Access to the feedback inbox and stored screenshots is restricted. No public screenshot link is created. These safeguards reduce risk, but no storage or transmission system is completely secure.

4. How long information is kept

Local progress and settings remain until you reset relevant settings, clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Reset progress does not remove submitted feedback, survey history or exported backup files. Delete exported backups from wherever you saved them.

Unsent feedback and survey drafts remain locally until submitted, discarded or removed by clearing app data. They are not automatically sent in the background.

Submitted feedback, surveys and attachments are retained for review until Oddphase deletes them. There is currently no automatic expiry. Private recovery snapshots also remain until explicitly removed; deleting a report from the active inbox does not automatically erase an existing snapshot.

Rate-limit records use short expiry windows. Gateway counters expire after one minute. Feedback-service counters are marked to expire after two hours and removed by subsequent cleanup. Recovery snapshots may contain older counters. Hosting providers may retain their own operational logs separately.

Support emails are retained while handling your request and related follow-up. You may ask us to delete correspondence. We may need to retain limited information for an unresolved dispute, security investigation or legal obligation, and will explain an applicable restriction when responding to a request.

5. Access, correction and deletion

To ask about, correct or delete information you sent to us, email support@oddphase.com with the subject Afterstep privacy request. Include the report receipt ID if you have it, or the approximate date and enough of the message to help locate it. You do not need to create an account or send a complete progress backup.

We may ask for limited additional information to verify that a request relates to your data. For anonymous reports, we can only act on records we can reasonably identify. A deletion request covers matching reports, survey responses and attachments, and we will check retained recovery copies as part of handling the request. We will explain any information that must be kept and why. This is a manual request process, not an instant in-app deletion control.

Clearing Afterstep's storage in Android settings removes the app's local records. It does not contact Oddphase or delete information already submitted. No Afterstep account is created by this build, so there is no separate game account to close.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent personal information, contact us using the same address. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, obtain a copy of information, or complain to a privacy regulator.

6. This website and policy changes

Visiting this page sends the usual browser and network request information to its hosting service. The shared Oddphase website styling also requests fonts from Google Fonts. These website requests are separate from the Android game's locally bundled artwork and fonts. This page has no feedback form or added advertising or analytics script.

We will update this policy when Afterstep's information practices change, including before adding purchases, online accounts or new analytics services. The effective date above identifies the current policy. Future public-release features are not described as active in this testing build.
